Can I get a VAT receipt or invoice for business travel?

Kings isn't VAT registered (a small business below the VAT threshold), but receipts are available on request, and regular business travellers can set up a corporate billing arrangement with VAT-format receipts.

Key points

  • Kings Heathrow Taxi is not VAT registered.
  • A standard receipt is available on request.
  • Payment is made online when the booking is placed.

Heathrow taxi VAT receipts: what can be issued

Kings Heathrow Taxi is not VAT registered, so it cannot issue a VAT receipt showing VAT charged by the business. A standard receipt is available on request. The distinction matters when requesting paperwork: the available document is a receipt for the booking payment, not a VAT receipt or a VAT invoice.

Payment is completed online at booking by card, PayPal, Apple Pay or Google Pay. Cash is not accepted and the driver is not paid during the journey. A receipt request therefore relates to the online payment for the confirmed booking. The terms do not add a card surcharge to that payment.

Heathrow taxi VAT receipts: how the booked amount is set

The amount paid is the fixed door-to-door fare for the selected route and vehicle. It includes the £7 Heathrow charge, tolls, ULEZ, fuel and traffic delay. There is no peak surcharge or surge pricing, and the published fare is the same at any time of day or on any day of the week.

For groups, the 6 seater and 8 seater also have fixed fares per route. The amount is charged for the vehicle rather than separately for every passenger. A standard receipt can be requested for the payment, but the business's VAT status does not change according to the route, vehicle size or whether the journey is personal or business travel.

How do I request a receipt?

+

Ask at the time of booking or email after your journey and one will be issued.

What's a corporate account, and who is it for?

+

It's a billing arrangement for regular Thames Valley business travel, set up directly with Kings, contact them to arrange one.

Does the invoice show VAT separately?

+

No. Since Kings is not VAT registered, there's no VAT line to itemise; the receipt shows the fare paid.

How do I actually pay?

+

Online, at the time of booking, by PayPal, card, Apple Pay or Google Pay. No cash is accepted.

Can I pay cash and obtain a receipt from the driver?

+

No. Cash is not accepted and the driver does not take payment. Pay online at booking by card, PayPal, Apple Pay or Google Pay. A standard receipt for the booking payment is available on request.

Can I request a receipt for a 6 seater or 8 seater booking?

+

Yes. Receipts are available on request, including for the fixed route fare of a 6 seater or 8 seater. The receipt is not a VAT receipt because Kings Heathrow Taxi is not VAT registered.
