Local rules
The Plough Roundabout at Moor End, known as the Magic Roundabout, joins six routes. Traffic circulates in both directions around six mini-roundabouts. Nearby, the Premier Inn on Moor End Road is in the same area.
Marlowes, the main shopping street, is a pedestrianised high street. Its central shopping section is pedestrianised, so a car stops at the nearest open road.
The measured journey to the town centre is 14 minutes longer on a Friday at 5pm than on a Tuesday at 11am. Its price is the same at both times.
Nothing. The town is not in a clean air zone, and the price is fixed and final.

Reasons for the journey
The former factory estate near the M1 was renamed Maylands Business Park after the 2005 Buncefield fire. A sculpture called Phoenix Gateway marks the first roundabout off the M1.
The hospital stands on Hillfield Road. A hospital has been on the site since 1832.
West Herts College has a campus on Marlowes in the town centre.
The new town centre was built south of the historic Old Town after 1952. Jellicoe Water Gardens and the pedestrianised Marlowes are in the centre.
