Local context
Reading is the county town of Berkshire and one of the largest towns in the Thames Valley, with a built-up-area population of around 203,000 at the 2021 census. It sits about 28 miles west of Heathrow, straight along the M4, which makes it one of the shorter and more competitive Heathrow airport-transfer routes. Reading is a major commercial centre: Thames Valley Park and Green Park business parks host Microsoft, Oracle, PepsiCo and Cisco, and Reading station is a main GWR and Elizabeth line interchange.
Local drop-offs in Reading include Reading station, the Royal Berkshire Hospital, the University of Reading Whiteknights campus, The Oracle shopping centre, hotels in the town centre, and any residential or business address you give us.
Traffic patterns we drive through
The actual road, not the schedule.
The standard run is M25 to M4 J4b, then west along the M4, about 28 miles. Both M4 J10 (Wokingham and the A329(M)) and J11 (Reading central and Green Park) work for us. J10 is better for Thames Valley Park and Winnersh Triangle, J11 for central Reading, Reading station, the Royal Berkshire Hospital and the Select Car Leasing Stadium. The M4 itself runs heavily from about 06:30 to 09:00 on weekdays with corporate inbound traffic, so the drive that takes roughly 40 minutes off-peak can stretch to 55 minutes or an hour. Friday evenings and the M25 approach at J14 to J15 add the most delay.

Common questions
Heathrow to Reading — FAQ.
How long does it take from Heathrow to Reading?
+
How long does it take from Heathrow to Reading?
+About 40 minutes off-peak from Terminal 5, straight along the M25 and M4 west, roughly 28 miles. On a Friday afternoon or a weekday morning rush hour expect closer to 55 minutes or an hour, mostly from M4 corporate-commuter traffic and the M25 approach. We track your flight and set the pickup time around live conditions.
How much does a Heathrow to Reading taxi cost?
+
How much does a Heathrow to Reading taxi cost?
+From £80 for an estate car (up to 4 people, 2 large suitcases) off-peak. That's the final price — Heathrow drop-off charge, motorway tolls and ULEZ are all included. Peak periods (Friday late afternoon, Sunday evening, public holidays) add 15%. No meter, no traffic surcharge, no card fees.
Do you cover all four Heathrow terminals?
+
Do you cover all four Heathrow terminals?
+Yes — T2, T3, T4 and T5. The pickup procedure is the same at each: call or text us once you've cleared customs, we drive round to the short-stay car park and collect you. No name-board meet & greet inside the terminal.
What happens if my flight is delayed?
+
What happens if my flight is delayed?
+We track your flight number, so we know when you've actually landed and adjust the pickup time accordingly. You're never charged extra for an airline delay. Free wait time is 60 minutes from your scheduled pickup.
Do you drop at Thames Valley Park, Green Park and the Reading business parks?
+
Do you drop at Thames Valley Park, Green Park and the Reading business parks?
+Yes. We drop door-to-door at Thames Valley Park (Microsoft, Oracle), Green Park (PepsiCo, Cisco, near the Select Car Leasing Stadium), Reading International Business Park and any office address in the town. For an early business start we time the pickup so you clear the M4 morning peak; a client at Thames Valley Park for 08:00 usually means a Heathrow pickup around 06:30. We also cover the University of Reading Whiteknights campus, the Royal Berkshire Hospital and Reading station for onward GWR or Elizabeth line connections. Because the fare is fixed, a business run costs the same whether the M4 is clear or crawling.
Is a taxi worth it versus the RailAir coach or train from Heathrow?
+
Is a taxi worth it versus the RailAir coach or train from Heathrow?
+The RailAir coach runs direct from the Heathrow terminals to Reading station for around £25 single, roughly every 30 minutes in the daytime, and it is the cheapest option if you are travelling light and heading to the station area. It drops at the station forecourt only, so if your address is a business park, hospital or a home in the suburbs you still need an onward local taxi. A fixed-price door-to-door taxi makes more sense when you are travelling as a group, land late at night, have luggage, or need an early business start at Thames Valley Park or Green Park. Our estate car takes up to four passengers with two large suitcases plus cabin bags; at £80 fixed that works out at around £20 each and saves the station transfer at the Reading end. Note that Uber and Bolt do not operate local pickups within Reading, so a return leg by app can be unreliable. For the full breakdown see our Heathrow to Reading taxi vs RailAir guide.
